Election 2020
2020 ELECTION
Three seats were open in the 2020 OV Town Council election.
Incumbent councilmembers Steve Solomon & Bill Rodman ran with newcomer Harry “Moe” Greene.
Solomon & Rodman fully supported the then Mayor Hiremath’s “rooftops” strategy. From 2016 to 2018, they voted in lockstep with the mayor & fellow councilmembers to approve numerous development projects. You can witness that in this video. They also accepted campaign donations from developers & special interests for their 2020 campaigns.
Newcomer Harry Greene was the Save OV Golf course candidate. He accepted campaign donations from developers & special interests for his 2020 campaign but also received donations from his neighbors that reside on the Conquistador & Canada courses.
Former councilmember Bill Garner & newcomer Tim Bohen were the challenger candidates. Both favored a more conservative development approach with an interest in extensive resident involvement. They did not accept campaign donations from developers & special interests for their 2020 campaigns.
Rodman, Solomon & Greene resorted to negative campaign mailers (paid for by their developer/special interest donors) that were filled with misinformation during the campaign.
At the end of the day, Solomon retained his seat, Rodman was ousted & newcomers Bohen & Greene were elected. Their terms will expire in 2024.
